About the event
Mel will guide you through the forest to help relaxation, relieve stress and invite happiness by connecting with the natural world.
Forest bathing focuses on slowing down, using techniques such as mindfulness and meditation, Mel also offers invitations which are ways to help us connect to our senses and deepen our links to our environment. There will be opportunities for sharing thoughts or how we are experiencing the forest and an opportunity to draw or write poetry if that is something that feels right.
Forest bathing doesn't have anything to do with bathing in water, but instead is an opportunity to use our senses so that we move out of our heads and into our bodies by tapping into our senses and simply spending concious time in nature. This is a great way to tune into the rhythms and seasons of nature.
The walk through the forest will be slow and won't be physically demanding, in total you can expect to walk roughly 1 mile, there will be multiple stops to take in the surrounding nature and there is time to enjoy a hot tea which will be provided on the experience.
Mel Prytz is a certified Shinrin Yoku practitioner who is still in training. She has been offering forest bathing sessions in the area for over a year.
Mel is also qualified in outdoor first aid and will bring everything along that is needed to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
It is important to know that this is a woodland walk with undulating terrain. If you have any health concerns or are worried about the walk please do let us know.
What to bring: Please bring a water bottle, and if you want a notebook and pen/pencil.
What to wear: Please wear comfortable clothing, suitable for light rain conditions.
A waterproof jacket (and trousers if you want as we shall be sitting at times in the woods).
Wear warm layers as this is a slow walk with a fair amount of stillness included.
Walking shoes/ trainers. This wood may be a little boggy in places so the more waterproof the better.
Meeting/Session Time: We will meet at the small carparking area at Ostaig corner, please can you arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time to allow the session to start on time. The session begins at 10:30am.
The session will last 2 hrs and we aim to be back at this same location around 12:30 pm.
